Last year I had an opportunity to do some travelling. I hadn’t travelled overseas since I was in high school so I was so excited about this two week holiday to Japan.
I excitedly travelled to Sydney to stay overnight at my daughters place prior to heading to the airport. Then the next morning we loaded up my car with all of our luggage for three people and headed off!
We were lucky in that we left the car at a family members home and caught a train direct to the airport dragging our luggage as we went. I had no idea how much I would resent this huge travel bag during my two weeks in Japan!
It didn’t quite go well at the start as we ended up with a 14 hour delay to our flight which threw us all out. Thankfully Qantas gave us accomodation so I didn’t have to go out of my way to get back to the airport again. We were able to relax and head to the airport without the frantic mad scramble. We also had voucher for a delicious and filling breakfast the next morning. All I can say is THANKYOU QANTAS!

After the significant delay, we were off on a rather long flight to Japan! I hadn’t flown for decades so the novelty of the flight didn’t escape me. I still love the take off and landing. It’s like riding a tame rollercoaster.
I was fascinated by the chap that was in the next aisle. He was so focused on his reading (essentially the whole flight). I did speak to him as we disembarked and asked him what he’d his attention for nearly 10 hours. His response was that he was reviewing the document. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone so focused on paper.
It was such a very LONG day and we were rather frazzled by the time we landed and settled into the hotel that was booked for our first night. I was really annoyed with dragging a 17 kg bag up and down stairs and dragging it along to the hotel. When I go to Japan again, it will be a taxi ride for sure!
